Using Win 7 to delete files from 2003 server...

I've been running into this problem where I can't delete a certain folder because it says that it's in use although I'm the only one accessing the server and don't have anything in that folder open. It's irritating as hell as I'm trying to clean up my server at home and I'm trying to either delete or rename stuff and I can't for some reason.

How I'm going about doing this is that I have Win 7's side by side view open (two windows- one showing picture and music files from my old profile when I rebuilt this machine (also stored on the server) and the other showing the pic and music folders on the server where I generally store everything). I'd like to clean up the server and get rid of my old profile however I have dup items on a number of things.

I can take over the server and do this remote but I'm wondering why I'm having this issue with Win 7 in the first place. I've done this a number of times with XP in the past and haven't ran into this problem what's so ever.

Any suggestions?

A friend had an almost identical issue recently, he had to assume ownership of the files and folders.

Really? That's odd, have the same account and pass on both machines. I'll give a shot and see, just seems messed up.

Thanks man.

yeah you have to take ownership.......

before in windows xp.... provided you have admin.... it was dandy..

now with win vista and win7.... you are not technically a full administrator...
