Re: my windows 7 rating!
Somethings not right...... The overclocked X800 with 256mb GDDR3 gets an Aero rating of 5.9 (Gaming/3D is at 4.9) It's only clocked to 452MHz on the GPU (was 400) and 506MHz memory (was 490) so.... it's not like I'm scorching anything.
Of course, it is Window's rating system we are talking about.... Far from an accurate benchmark.

Hmm yeah I thought it was weird how the Aero rating was below the Gaming rating...

Re: my windows 7 rating!
Aero rating is less than gaming with a mobo AMD 4250 with 512 allocated. But that's on an ECS board....

Re: my windows 7 rating!
6.8 is not bad, I'm getting a 6.9 out of a Corsair 32gig SSD...... Better than a mechanical drive but not at the top of the rating. I think the top of the ratings is held out for hardware that doesn't exist yet....... or very few have it yet if it actually does exist. It's sort of "future proofed"

Re: my windows 7 rating!
what kind of speed improvements are you guys seeing with the SSDs? would going to a raid setup be similar with using speed?

Re: my windows 7 rating!
They make your computer seem twice as fast as when it was new
![]() I'm not sure about a RAID setup, I've never had one.

Re: my windows 7 rating!
I thought raid was inadvisable with SSDs, due to a lack of trim support?

Re: my windows 7 rating!
I've heard there's no speed improvement but you might want to check on that.

Re: my windows 7 rating!
Also, there would appear to be two Windows 7 rating threads atm, near identical in purpose. This thread is supposed to be about the OP's rating, as opposed to everyone else's :P

Re: my windows 7 rating!
By all means get a second HD57XX and crossfire them.... but don't expect the windows 7 rating to change. Win7 rating doesn't use crossfire and hardly uses the ATi card's potential in single mode.
Get an SSD and use it for your boot drive...... Then your 5770 or the 955 will be the slowest link.

Re: my windows 7 rating!
While I wouldn't rule it out entirely, I'd be pretty surprised if BF3 can take advantage of the x6's two additional cores. If it can't, you're probably better off just pushing more clock speed out of the x4.
Another 5770 might make sense if you can get one cheap though, and an SSD, while not useful in pure FPS terms, would probably be nice :P

Re: my windows 7 rating!
A recent build i managed to get 6.4 using 4 WD Caviar Black 64mb cache in raid 0 with the primary C partition being only 64gb in size.
On an Intel ICH10R (using the new sandy bridge updated chipset recently released)
