Installed it last night... took about 8 minutes to install.. from the time i clicked "next" to the time it restarted to a completed screen..

Even when windows 7 said i was not geniune (hadn't reset the -rearm)

I rercently went up to Win 7 Ultimate from Home Premium...

With Ultimate,Bioshock (Steam) when ever i click my Desktop shortcut.. It just hangs and a get the Program is not responding and needs to close message...

I were hoping SP1 May of made a difference... But the same issue continues.. So far SP1 is fine and almost everything is responding well.

odd.... if that's the case.... i'd say completely remove it and reinstall. and if that don't work... i'm guessing something else is thoroughly messed up... maybe anti-virus or firewall...

I have tried the re-install also...

1) From My current Back-up File
2) Also from a direct install via steam.


Same issue. I get the Small bioshok logo in the middle of the screen then then followed by the windows message..

Cancelled out the Firewall and AV Still makes no difference...

I dont play bioshock that often. But it's fun for short half hour bursts now and then....i would just like to get it working.

Compatibility tab on the shortcut properties? Maybe running in Vista enviroment or XP (dunno if that removes the DX10 though).

It's a Brand new Retail Disk...So its from a fresh install.

MIG - you might want to scout the net to see where the settings (eg: graphics) are stored and how to get rid of them. Often game settings are left behind, even after uninstalling a game.

This is a little odd....

Last night i set steam to run as Admin again..Along with Compatibility mode to win 7...Which Biosock still did not start up....

I never got any messages or info to why it needs to close,it just does so....

This morning after booting up Steam came up with a message saying steam cant run in compatability mode so it requires me to cancel it...

Tried Bioshock again and it now loads up... Started the game and during the intro i have sound... But once you get to the crash site,Standed in the sea and you need to swim to the lighthouse... The sound disappears...

And i know the sound (Realtek HD Onboard) is working...

sounds like it's bugging out..

i was going to suggest navigating through the steam apps and such to the folder where the game is.. and run it as admin manually...

that is honestly quite bizarre considering i've still have nothing but problems with add in cards and utterly FLAWLESS gaming and playing with no crashed or oddities occuring with any of the Realtek HD audio solutions...
