Hope someone has an idea on this as quite frankly i am stumped

I set up a Belkin router at a friends house yesterday the router is working ok as afterwards i connected the Wii and the 360 up to it and performed updates on both so all OK there

The issue is the Netbook does not see the router in the choice of available wifi connections

i can see all the other connections that people in neighbouring houses have but her Belkin is not in there

any ideas why all other items in the house see the Belkin except for the Netbook

all the other connections appear to be BT but the home network is on a virgin

any ideas ?

is the router set to PSID off?

dunno i will check tomorrow its an odd one ... possibly check the SSID as well

just strange that every other thing in the house including my diag laptop sees it but the notebook does not

odd but working changed name of the router from belkin54g to belkinJones and up it popped

sorted ......not sure why though

sometimes i see issues with some routers disliking the channel frequency.... i know it's the broadcast frequency.. but it's data tranmission of some sort.... on some dlink routers you can select 20hz(mhz?) or you can set auto 20/40... and for whatever reason.. some machines refuse to accept the 20/40 and only work on the 20.

I did try changing channels and the few things i know of but it was only after changing the name that the router popped up

anyway it all seems ok and she's not leeching off some random stranger anymore so in the end all good
