Replacing mediaplayer 12
Can mediaplayer 12 be removed from Win7 totally. Then replaced by installing mediaplayer 11? This is for prem. home version, X64-bit.

Re: Replacing mediaplayer 12
Short to the point No. WMP is so heavily integrated to windows that it can't be removed at all. So if you don't like using WMP I recommend MPC-HC for you

Re: Replacing mediaplayer 12
Hi temeteus82,
Dowmloaded MPC-HC and installed it. Had to install DirectX Run End-Timer and tinker with MPC-HC's settings, and Win7 making MPG and MP4 files go to the new player. After about 30 minutes, All is well. Thank you for your suggestion and answer. MPC-HC is a neat player. I had trouble getting MPG files to play with mediaplayer 12. After installing Win7, they played OK. But after downloading all the updates, it suddenly stopped playing MPG files. OH WELL, thank you again for your help!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Replacing mediaplayer 12
Im on Win 7 64 bit and eventually had to replace MP12 with 11 after getting sick on the bugs with inserted media in MP12 (it can be uninstalled and replaced quite easily)
But have you tried installing a codec pack to check if your just missing some stuff needed to play files on the updated MP12 Install the shark codecs from here Shark007.net - Windows 7 Codecs - WMP12 Codecs make sure you do the Win 7 and the X64 components of it that might sort out your files not playing MPC-HC is pretty sweet though I actually prefer that to MP12 |

Re: Replacing mediaplayer 12
recommend to set the output to EVR Sync or custom Pres. And de-select the built-in ffdshow codes use the DXVA versions for H264/AVC, mpeg-2 and VC1

Re: Replacing mediaplayer 12
Stick with MPC in my opinion. Its compatibility with third-party codecs is so much better than WMP. Try playing an MOV or RMV in WMP or, for a true challenge, an MKV in a foreign language with subtitles set to the wrong language.
For some reason I still use WMP as my main video player and use MPC if WMP doesn't work properly. Not sure why but it doesn't really bother me.

Re: Replacing mediaplayer 12
Hi Takaharu,
I'm happy with the way I have it set up. My old boss always said "If it's not broke, then don't fix it." Empressed with your 7 languages! HA HA HA.
