Pre-Release Version? I Don't have any Pre-release Version!!!
For some strange reason, I'm getting a prompt to Back up any important data as my "pre-released version of Windows will expire in 4 days."

I don't have any pre-released version of Windows installed!! What I have is a full OEM version of Windows 7 x64 installed.

The only thing I can think of that would prompt this is I have the Release Candidate of Service Pack 1 installed from April. Is Microsoft going to disable my Windows due to this?

Everything else has been updated and I have a Genuine ACTIVATED Windows 7 otherwise.

What's the story?

Try uninstalling SP1 and installing the gold version. At the very least, it should rule that possibility out of the equation.

It definitely WAS the fact that I was still running the RC of SP1!

BUT, just why I got a warning that my "pre-release version of Windows" was going to be disabled is still beyond me. Why not just give me a pop up telling me to uninstall the SP1 RC?

At any rate, I've spent the last few hours uninstalling SP1 RC, then installing the final version and getting the rest of the updates.
