NVidia and horizontal span on Vista

Hi there.
I have a problem with my NVidia card (6800GS) in Vista. I tried many different driver versions, registray tweaks an so on, but I can't manage to get the good old horizontal span back. So I wanted to ask whether someone did manage to get the horizontal span mode back in Vista. Yes I know there is the DualView option, but this doesn't really help me, cause I want to stretch my games over to monitors and that doesn't work with DualView.
Greetings doortokaos

Horizontal and Vertical span modes are no longer available under Windows Vista.

Due to architectural changes in the new Windows Vista Window Display Driver Model (WDDM), span mode cannot be supported in NVIDIA graphics drivers. NVIDIA recommends using the built-in Windows Vista multi-display modes.

1580x1050 + 1580x105 = 3360x1050 view the Span mode offers...

telling the users they should use the build in Options is just nonsens...
