Workaround needed..

I just upgraded a my system, i was using a nforce 590 AMD before with 2x pci-e 7600GT cards and 1 pci 5200 card in XP. I could run SLI on my mainscreen and my other 2 screens on the pci card np. After i upgraded now and got more RAM and a nForce 680i MB im trying to use 2x 8800GTS 512 and one 8400GS card in Vista 64 with no luck at all. SLI is working with no problems with just 2x 8800GTS but if i install another pci-e card it wont let me even see the option to enabled SLI. I tryd with both a old 7600GT and the 8400GS card in the middle (white slot on asus striker Extreme MB). Anyone know a fix for this? I need atleast 2 screens and to be able to use SLI at the same time (on one screen).

Would *shiver* installing a ATI pci-e card in 3rd pci-e 8x slot work?

lol ATi isnt THAT bad. they use the latest DX 10.1 version unlike nvidia

but still, i highly doubt an ATi card would work, it would just make everything worse.

its all driver issues but i dunno if that issue can be worked around.

It workd ok in my old system, i actually used 2x 7600GT and a old something ATI card, it can use windows default drivers or whatever. I just use my other 2 screens for browsing and having TS/Ventrilo windows up on or other desktop applicatons where its usefull having 2 or more desktops.

i thought you said you used a nvidia 5200

i think a card can be ran well enough off windows drivers if you like the lag. but im not sure...

Yes, in the latest setup with Nvidia only cards. I used a ATI card before that and that workd to, but it was all pci-e for SLI and pci for 3rd card back then.

get a cheapo ATI card and run it with the default windows drivers. that should work.
