Moded Nvidia 177.39 (Vista) driver
has any one managed to mod the 177.39 (Vista) drivers to work on other cards?? like 8800GTS/GTX/Ultra so we can all enjoy the new Phisics capabilities ?
its already been proven that ATI Runs PhysX With Modified Drivers you can read about it here: ATI Runs PhysX With Modified Drivers - Tom's Hardware so what do you say people? think it can work? ![]()

As I posted in another thread, did it myself, and it works. Tested with XP 32bit and Vista x32/64bit with an 8800GT and 8800GTS 512. All you do is go to laptopvideo2go.com, specifically THIS page, which is the forum list for all the 177.xx based drivers. As of now you can download the driver + the modded INF for the 177.39 drivers, as well as the newer 177.41 drivers. The best thing to do is download the official drivers from nVidia, as these include the newer version of the PhysX software as part of the driver download, extract them to a folder, overwrite the INF with one from laptopvideo2go, and install from there.

PhysX doesn't current with G80 and these drivers. And AFAIK the ATI running PhysX is a fake.

i agree with lowfat about the physx being fake. nv has acces to physx hardware, ati doesnt.
ati does have its own proprietary hardware that performs similar function but i seriously doubt that nv designed software would work with it, let alone make it perform 'better'. if wrong please enlighten ![]() and thx for the info tip.

well I've tried this out.. installed the 177.39 with moded INF and it didn't recognize my card as physix Gforce enabled card..
my card is MSI 8800GTS 320MB - do you think there is a way to make it work?

now trying the 177.41 moded drivers... maybe it will help. will update when its done. (dont worry I d/l the latest nvidia phsyx drivers - stil no good on 177.39)
edit: well it doesn't work!! 8800 gts G80 by MSI isn't suppported even though it is stated on nvidia web site that its CUDA enabled/Supported... so what else can I do?? any one?

It supports Cuda yes, but not PhysX. You can still fold with it. There is nothing that you can do currently.

No idea. Really depends if Nvidia decides to write drivers for them.

Long Time ***** Friend
|
I been doing some eading around the modded driver sites and the word is NVidia will release a driver that will work on G80 series cuda supported cards some time in the near future (in a few weeks or so). This is what I've been reading, but I can't back it up with an official announcement from NVidia.
It has been reported by users that the newer Nvidia cards such as the 8800 GT and 8800 GTS 512 MB does have PhysX support enabled using Geforce 177.39 or 177.41 and the Nvidia_PhysX_8_06_12_driver.
