System Specs

??? Dual Nvidia Cards

Hello, let me give you some system specs

ASUS M3A78 PRO Motherboard
AMD Phenom 9950 Black Edition 2.6GHz Quad-Core
Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT running Dual 22" Flat Panels (using dual DVI output)
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit

I recently got another flat panel, 17" and wanted to set it up as a third-wheel. I know onboard and PCI-E doesn't work together so I got a cheap PCI Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 (which site and disc state are vista 64 compatible) and would like to set it up however it conflicts with the current drivers installed for the 8600 GT

Maybe anyone has any ideas on how I can get this up and running? I've spent 5 hours already screwing with it and I just want it to work! LOL

I hope someone can help me. I've tried almost everything.

I'm thinking that the issue lies that when the 8600 or the 5200 drivers are being installed it overwrites the current driver in use (nvlddmkm.sys) and causes a BSOD. HIndering my ability to use the computer until I switch back to onboard and delete the drivers completely.

I was thinking that if I had an INF or Driver Installer setup whatever that used all of the required files, but the required files had a 2 at the end of their name then it would copy them into the windows drivers folder without trying to copy of the current and in-use driver files -- In turn allowing them to work properly and not receive a BSOD and screw up drivers on my better card.

I don't know, anyways, would love to hear some thoughts.

Thanks,

Casey

The last driver for FX5200 was from October 2006 ( ForceWare Release 95 )
Replace it with any card listed here: GeForce Release 182

@Nachbrenner

I went down to my local Wal-Mart and picked up a BFG Nvidia GeForce 6200 OC for 40 bucks and it is working well. All 3 monitors are now up and in use. Thanks for that was just hoping I didn't need to buy another card but for 40 bucks whatever, it gets the job done. Now I got this 5200 I need to pawn off on someone for the 25 bucks I paid for it.

Good luck with that. I doubt you'll find anyone who has any use for an FX 5200.
