nvidia new drivers crashing, BSOD and so on... might have figured it out!

New drivers more often then not bring more performance right?

whats an app that a lot of people use to find a quick FPS average?

that's right boys and gals...

turn FRAPS off! lol!

give it a whirl! might turn up lucky like i did...

anyhoo... doesn't help that the 2d / 3d clocks are still all screwy.

186.35 magically popped up on my system after i had to do a driver sweep to get rid of those horrid 190.38 drivers. Seems like a pretty steady driver... me like.

anyway, i haven't posted in a long while... (at least anything of relevance lol) figured i might share....

Re: nvidia new drivers crashing, BSOD and so on... might have figured it out!

seems to be a little more to the equation:

looks to be cards sporting "power states" are guilty here.

while monitoring clocks while gaming, i noticed that the 3d app in question will drop to desktop (sometimes bsod) only AFTER i notice the card clocks drop to "2d" or "idle clocks".

this is interesting, i guess some apps are not proving themselves as "intensive" enough for the driver to maintain "3d clocks".

but (as im sure most of you are already aware of) setting your driver's global 3d setting option "power managment mode" to "prefer maximum performance" seems to solve this little unappreciative clock bug...

as for fraps... still a major contender in the mess i have found.

what have you guys come across?
