I have been testing the Catalyst drivers on a couple of older Via chipset boards (AK38n Shuttle KT333ce 1.5GB Fic A97p AGP 9700pro, and CUV4X-DLS Asus Apollo Pro694X A97p 9700pro AGP 1.0 GB) The only driver(s) that don't BSOD with a Stop 0x00000116 in atikmdiag are the drivers shipped with Vista Ultimate RTM and RC2. Sometimes the 831 package works. 7.1, 7.2, 7.3 mostly BSOD (occassionally I've had them working but with no consistancy.)
On the CUV4X-DLS w/ 2x1G PIII's I get a Experience Index of 1.0 (?) and a 2.9 on the KT333ce with an Athlon XP+ 2.0G but only the original shipping Vista drivers work. JohnY2 I have tried with and without CCC and with and without ATI External Event Service disabled with no change in behavior. Last edited by JohnY2; Apr 2, 2007 at 08:13 PM. Reason: Additional Info |

Funny. This thread is longer than the official cat 7.3 thread. I think that there's something wrong.

Unfortunately, the only true fix is to replace the Cat 7.3's with the 7.2's or for ATI to replace the 7.3's with a new hotfix.

Hi, just registered to try to help on this topic. I've had Cats 7.3 since day 1, and so far, I haven't had a single BSOD, or any problem for that matter.
I have Vista Enterprise 32-bit, and my configuration is: AsROCK 939Dual-SATA2 (ULi M1695/M1567) AMD Athlon64 3200+ @ 2.5GHZ 2x512 Kingmax SuperRAM Connect3D Radeon 9600XT I have Samsung SyncMaster connected on DVI, and i have PQI USB connected for ReadyBoost. I'm an IT student, so I extensively use programs such as Visual Studio 2005, Maya, 3DS Max etc. No problem with any game I've played also. I hope I've been of help, at least a little bit. Cheers. ![]() EDIT: Catalyst A.I. is set to Advanced in my case. Last edited by Kizo; Apr 2, 2007 at 11:29 PM. |

Anyone with BSODing have wireless Keyboard/Mice, or other wireless receivers or transmitters close by? Have you tried disconnecting/disabling these things.

I know my problem has been XP 32bit and Zardon has asked that I include my problem within this thread, so anything I type here is directly related to XP 32bit not Vista.
My BSOD issues disappear when Catalyst A.I is disabled, when it's enabled the problems start tumbling out the sky - I can confirm this on two PC's. Maybe the Vista issue is different to this - has anyone tried it disabling Catalyst A.I? |

Just a thought folks....
Go to C:>Windows>Downloaded Program Files and see if you've got any "corrupted" installs. I saw that my Java install was hosed and when I went to the control panel to check it out, it threw me into "basic mode". Do we maybe all have java installed? I've already rolled back to 7.2's, but would one of you brave souls on that still has 7.3 have a look-see? |

The ATIStart batch file behaves funny. System error 5 occurs and access is denied. But the CCC can load successfully. What's the catch?

The BSOD problem has nothing to do with java or any other third party software. I can reproduce the problem after a clean install of Vista and no other updates to the system other than Cats 7.3.

I've been getting a 0x000000EA stop errors now. Windows tells me it is caused by the video driver.

If I disable the eHome Reciever and the corresponding Consumer IR Devices entries in Device Manager the I have 100% reboot reliability with Cat7.3. If I enable the Reciever & Consumer IR then I have a 100% BSOD problem on reboot. I'll do some more debugging here over the next few days and post any usefull/interesting findings. |

Hi, I also have a Logitech 510 wireless mouse/keyboard setup, however I am not will to test out any 'fixes' until I have had an official response from ATI. I am rather suprised this hasn't been done, my ticket is still outstanding and I've had no response since the 29/3.

I got the same problem with the BSOD.
I have: Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit Asus P5B Premium Vista Edition Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Geil 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC6400 800MHz Ultra 4-4-4-12 500 GB Samsung SATA HDD Sapphire Radeon x1650 Pro Sony KDL-40W2000 (1080p via DVI->HDMI) Connected to USB: Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000 (Bluetooth), Asus ScreenDUO, Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision Webcam The integrated ReadyBoost (Asus ASAP) on the motherboard is also activated (which is connected internally to the USB bus) Another issue I have, with the 7.2 drivers, is that if I switch the TV to another channel, and then back to the computer, the screen remains black. I get the picture back when I make a resolution change or the screensaver turns off the display and then back on. Or I can pull out the cable between the TV and the HTPC and then put it back in. Is there a way to make the display adapter not stop sending signals even if it thinks that there is no display at the other end of the cable (which it obviously does not correctly know all the time)? i'm not sure what that is... Are you an administrator (logged in as) and the bat file has been placed in the Root Start menu and not a USER start menu startup.
