ATI Radeon Installer Hang

Hello,

I have an ATI Radeon 9550 running on Vista Ultimate. I have had a problem installing the ATI drivers for Vista for each of the latest versions (7.1, 7.2, 7.3, including the new 7.3 Hotfix). The problem is after I launch the installer, it runs for a bit and then hangs at what appears to be the end of the Analyze phase of the process. It will sit there for hours without getting past this point.

I have tried installing Express and Custom configurations as well as Uninstalling, and I get the same hang each time.

Can someone give me some help to resolve this issue?

Thanks!

Have exact problem. Vista has 'shut down' the application in the hardwaredetect.dll.

Hmmm can you try something and see if it works?

Disconnect from the internet, removing the network cable if needed to do that etc.
Disable / exit any firewall software / registry monitoring (anti-spyware apps that sort of thing) and or antivirus software
Exit any other apps in the system tray / memory
Re-run the catalyst installer software

Also can you post your full system specs, see if we can see if theres a consistant theme as to why its happening (if its in your sig please post it as text as I have the sigs turned off)

If theres some sort of common pattern it will help ATI to replicate and fix it if its something that they need to fix.

Also are you running the installer as the administrator ?

Your graphics card ID's would be helpful too, they can be found in the graphics hardware part of the information centre in the CCC. For example mine is:
Device ID: 7249
Vendor: 1002
Subsystem ID: 0D02
Subsytem Vendor ID: 1002

Let me know what happens if you do exit any apps and if it then works (and also which apps you exited)

Since you can't get the installer to finish, I'm assuming you also can't get into CCC. So, try this:

Go to Device Manager
Expand the Graphics Adapter
Double click on your graphics card listed
Use the Dropdown menu to show Hardware IDs
