TJMacGyver is on a distinguished road

I can't install ANY driver

OK, so I have had a lot of driver troubles today.

System
Thinkpad T43 X300 Running Vista.

First I updated to 7.4 worked great and I could even use the custom resolutions I need for my monitor.

But I had to change back, reason not important.

I then installed it again, and it didn't work proberly, so after a couple of hours fiddling, NOTHING.

So I try to remove anything ATI related in the registry. I delete all ATI files ( I mean all of them, taking ower ownership and all that)

And I reboot, windows installs standard VGA driver, cool i think, A clean system.

But now I can't install ANY display driver, AT ALL.

The error is something like I/O operation canceld for some reason, check with hardware vendor. (it's in danish, so )
I believe that Vista is seeing the hardware as X600 some place, but can't find it now.

Does anyone have a clue on how I can install a driver now?

With what little experience I had with the Vista RC2, you 'might' be able to remedy things by going into the Device Manager and REMOVING any and all instances of the ATI graphics card. Then reboot and see if Vista recognizes the card correctly and proceed from there.

Good luck!
