Can't upgrade my X1200 drivers

Hello everyone,

After a few months of owning a Toshiba laptop and downloading several Catalyst driver sets, thinking I was upgrading the drivers each time, I came to realize that my drivers were not being updated at all and I'm working with 5 month old drivers.

Searching for a solution, I came upon this thread:

http://www.hardwareheaven.com/mobility...k-warning.html

In that thread, I read something that truly horrified and disheartened me:

What can I do about this, if anything?

My computer is almost like that of the topic creator of the thread I posted there, a Toshiba Satellite laptop, model A215 S-4747. But I have Windows Vista 32bit as opposed to XP, which he has.

Computer: Laptop, Toshiba Satellite A215 S-4747
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
RAM: 1024 MB (894 MB available since 128 MB is utilized by the video card's shared memory feature)
Video Card: ATI Radeon X1200
Processor: AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56 1.80GHz

Your help would be very much appreciated,

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!

Since ATi/AMD don't release mobility drivers for Vista it's up to your laptop maker to release new drivers. And our mod tool isn't currently supporting the X1200 chip so you can't use it.

Toshiba hasn't released drivers for the past 4 months.

Ugh, there has to be more to it than this. Is there really nothing I can do? I just can't stand this, it's causing quite a lot of frustration for me. Is Toshiba or ATi/AMD to blame for this? I just can't accept this.

As far as I know it's Toshibas and other laptop makes fault since they don't allow ATi/AMD to make drivers for their products. They would need the device ID's only. So we might get the mobility modder working if we could have the device ID's

[EDIT] more info about the mod tool here : http://www.hardwareheaven.com/driverhe...ml#post1090692

Am I able to provide you with the device ID? How would I go about finding it?

Also, thank you very much. I didn't mean to get all ranty like that in my other post... I just got really frustrated. I appreciate what you're doing here.
