Help...quirky 690G X1250 YPbPr HDTV output

Hello,
I'm new to the forum. Please forgive me if I say something stupid.

I just put together a cheap media PC using the Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H (690G chipset). It comes with a component video (YPbPr) ...which connects directly to a set of pins on the motherboard which is shared by the D-Sub (i.e. can't use both).

When I connect via component video directly to my TV, no problem...looks great. However, when i connect through my receiver (as I need to), it appears the card doesn't recognize the connection as HD. The picture is the familiar blue fuzzy picture.

I know that the receiver has physical relays for the component video connection (I hear them). I suspect that's the problem...the card is looking for a closed circuit (on Y?) to activate the component output. The problem is that the receiver is looking for enough signal to trip the relay.

Does this sound plausible?
...and does anyone know a work around? (force card to output yPbPr)
(Forcing detection of TV though CCC does not help.)

Thank anyone and everyone for any assistance.
