Bsod in vista 64

After changing from a nvidia 9600gt to a sapphire hd 3870 toxic. I changed do to that do to that ati drivers support full screen overlay on second monitor. I did run driver cleaner so that isn't it. However after about an hour of using this feature I get screen corruption and a crash followed by BSOD and Stop 0x00000116 and atikmdag.sys. The problem is now getting worse as even web surfing is causing the drivers to crash and recover with a balloon pop up notification. I also can't install hydravision I get a net framework error saying it does not have registry security authority when I try to open CCC.

Specs are
vista 64
evga 780i MB
4x 1gb corsair xms2 ram
e8400 cpu
thermaltake toughpower 750psu
