??? Tearing when more than one display is attached. (investigation)

I noticed that when I have two displays attached to my HD3870 using the 8.4 driver there is tearing introduced both into videos played in DXVA mode as well as in some games like Call of Duty 4. I'd like to hear if this happens to others as well and if perhaps it's also a known problem. I have not tried other drivers as I don't need to use more than one display for the moment, but eventually I will. So I'd like to pin this one down for the future.

This is not a VSync problem even if it appears somewhat similarly. The tearing always occurs in an exact position of the display in a video or game. Oh and I didn't touch the dual screen mode setting so it was in clone mode and I havent tried any other.
