problem with 1920x1080 image
Hi all,
I have a GigaByte GA-MA78GM-S2H mobo connected via HDMI cable to a 42'' LCD TV. TV's brand is "Fujicom", which is basically a LG tv with Fujicom sticker on it. Don't know what the model is. The problem is when I set the pc's resolution to 1920x1080 the desktop appears larger than the screen, meaning some of it is left out of the screen. This happens with the mobo's cd drivers. When updating the drivers to GigaByte's or ATI's newest the desktop is smaller than the screen. Other resolutions, such as 1024x768, are fine and fill the screen precisely. I also tried updating the bios version to F4 and the newest F5. playing with the catalyst and Powerstrip definitions did enable me to change image size but never to a point where I got 1:1 pixel match. Does anyone have a solution for that problem? |

set the image to 1920x1080 and then go into the catalyst control centre advanged view. In the TV/LCD settings there is a section called Scaling. Drag that until the image fits your screen.

Thanks, Veridian3.
I tried that but never got a perfect fit. Either the hight or the width didn't fit. |

The only thing i can think of is that there is a setting in your TV that needs changed in some way.

The only display setting in my tv is choosing between 16:9 and 4:3 display.
However, after playing with powerstrip for a while I found a few settings that might give a clue of what the problem could be. I'll post the images tomorrow. It's 2:00 am over here and I have about 5 hours left to sleep. Thanks for now. |

ok, here are the images.
The first one is of the data read directly from the tv and the second is of data read from the registry. Not only is there a difference between the two but in both there are settings that seem off such as "Discrete timings". What do you think? ![]()

For some reason I can't see the images... hmm... anyway the img code is ok. And I've manually checked the images, that's why you see the edit. You should use the EDID data and save it as .inf file for the monitor.

temeteus82, thanks.
I'll try that a bit later when i'm near that machine. In the meantime, here are links to the images. Hope they're more productive: data read from monitor: monitor on Flickr - Photo Sharing! data read from registry: registry on Flickr - Photo Sharing! |

I tried using the EDID data as a monitor driver but it had no effect.
That's with Vista. I'll install a fresh XP copy and try again. |

Well, I got the same results with XP.
What else can be done? |

Is there any other viable input to the screen to try, like VGA or DVI? Just to see if it's a possible workaround.

what about trying other programs?
PowerStrip is nice.... but i prefer Ati Tray Tools... take their BETA - 1.4.7.1210 - it supports the HD 2XXX and the HD 3XXX series... and i'm sure you'll have an easy way with the Resolutions..... you can also try RivaTuner... give it a shot.. |
