Driver Updates
When ATI makes new cards, how long before they reach maximum performance?
Basically the reason I am asking is everytime I see a graphics card reviews, it's like yadda yadda 30 FPS in Crysis, and this is just 8.6! It can only get better So how much time does it take to basically reach critical performance once a new card is released and then the drivers take affect? I've just noticed (although I know I am a bit CPU bound) that I am not breaking big numbers in my benchmarks |

well, on my x800, which i got used years after it was released, the 7.10 & 7.12 cats improved ETQW a lot! so that's like 3-4yrs of improvements (well not like the games of release time changed too much)
then there's tweaking the game engines that would give much better than review performance of course, drivers wont improve things too far, unless something horribly wrong happened when the card is released (like no CF scaling on an x2) |

Ah I see. I was sorta shocked there was no big improvements just a slew of fixes in the 8.8s guess I am hoping to set all options to "high" in crysis :P
I had the x800 in 2 of my rigs for the longest time, great cards. |
