ATI2EVXX display schizoid detecting
Ok sort of a weird title. Here's the issue.
I have a laptop with a Radeon X2300. Doesn't matter which drivers I run, for Vista32 or Vista64, whether they're HP's or the latest Mobility Modded... I have the same problem. Every few minutes the displays (I have 2 monitors hooked up to the docking station) go ABSOLUTELY SCHIZOID. The machine lags real slow, and then the monitors flash on and off and on and off. If I'm LUCKY, then when they settle down they'll be in the same place. If I'm unlucky they'll have changed settings all around. Having a hotkey for my preferred settings sometimes fixes this. During this time, the SECOND instance of ati2evxx is going nuts. If I kill that second instance of ati2evxx, the monitors are ROCK STEADY, but of course I lose the display detection so when I undock I can't get the display back up on the laptop LCD. Even if I kill Ati2evxx (only the SECOND instance, mind you), once in a great while (every 20 minutes for 1 second) the second monitor will blank out and come back. This doesn't happen if I don't install CCC, but of course I want the advanced settings. Is this a type of TDR? Or is it just a detection conflict between Vista and ATI? Any ideas? (Oh, by the way, HI again DriverHeaven. Been a while!)
