exclamation Problem with ATI Drivers on Windows Vista 32bit?!

Hello

I have a problem with my windows vista 32bit ultimate edition and installing a ATI Cataclyst driver for my graphic card (I own a Sapphire ATI Radion HD2400 PRO AGP edition). Each time when i want to install driver, when i rebot my computer i get either a blue screen, where it says that there is something wrong with a driver file called atikad.sys or something like that or the other site of the problem is, if i don't get this blue screen, when windows reboots the graphic card still isn't installed and when I look in device manager, under the tab "Display Adapters" there is installed "Standard Graphic VGA adapter" :S.

Few specification about my computer: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ S754, Gigabyte K8NS Pro (nforce 250, AGP, ddr 400Mhz, . . .), Geil 1 Gb Dual channel kit (400Mhz - ddr) and Sapphire ATI Radeon HD2400 Pro agp edition).

So if anyone knows how to solve this problem, or has any other information, please contact me here, or personaly on my mail, which is "xneycx@gmail.com".

Thanks!

So if anyone knows how to solve my problem or any other information about this problem, please contact me here or on my mail "xneycx@gmail.com".

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!

Since you got AGP card you should use the AGP hotfix drivers from AMD/ATi.

Yeah try the latest package from here:
AMD Customer Care
Since Sapphire made that PCI-Express product into an AGP version the customer needs to use either drivers provided by Sapphire or this "AGP Hotfix" series of drivers from the chip maker. Hopefully that will be solution for the problems that you're experiencing. Welcome to the forum.

Re: Problem with ATI Drivers on Windows Vista 32bit?!

I've been getting the same problem as this guy i think.

Vista 32Bit, Sapphire 2600Pro and I keep getting random reboots, BSOD's, freezes....

I've tried every hotfix driver I could find on both ati and sapphire site and still getting it.

I've done RAM, HDD, Mobo every test in the book for every other component, but nothing helps.

If anyone can help me out further, very much abbliged.

SP1 IS installed, everything is up to date (EVERYTHING, so including BIOS before anyone asks) its just this driver that screws up all the time.

Windows claims its a hardware error but with this card being less then a year old, and no artifacts, no overclocking..... i don't see how this could be a hardware problem or broken hardware what so ever.

big thanks for helping me out in advance, this rig is my workstation so I NEED it to be able to handle 3D again

Is this your motherboard? ASUS PC-DL Deluxe :: Articles :: www.hardwarezone.com

IF so, it will ONLY support AGP 4X @ 1.5 Volts. This is a 'server' board and not a 'gamer' board by any stretch of the imagination.

You should check for any updated BIOS, motherboard and chipset drivers. But, for all intents and purposes, the board was engineered in 2004-- kind of 'ancient' for technology and the HD2600 wasn't even on the radar at that time.

Just make sure you're using the proper BIOS settings for the AGP port and try setting AGP aperture to various sizes until you get a more stable experience.

Good luck!

Re: Problem with ATI Drivers on Windows Vista 32bit?!

According to your link it supports AGP 8x
"Supports AGP 4X/8X (1.5V)"

plus I ran a 9800XT before this card on here at AGP 8x and it ran perfectly for years untill the card died on me (that one WAS OC'd )

and however ancient the board is, it ran fine for years even under VIsta for almost a year now, so I don't get why it doesn't work all of a sudden then. Plus I can't afford to buy a new desktop so this one'll have to do
