Re: ATI Catalyst™ 8.11 Display Driver for Vista

Tip: If you experience problems running accelerated video, like if you get no picture or the player crashes; try turning off "Enable Dynamic Contrast" in the Avivo Video settings. It's a new function that can sometimes interfere somehow, and personally I'd turn it off anyway so I'd prefer it wasn't enabled by default.

Re: ATI Catalyst™ 8.11 Display Driver for Vista

Reading this I was surprised about adding? the line
• Catalyst Control Center, Overdrive options missing under Graphics settings

So I said to myself, I have 8.10 and it works, there is no way I will install this 8.11 and ruin it.

Then I read the post by MKK and decided to do that change, I go to the CCC and now half my options are missing, including Overdrive...wtf?

ok, reboot solved the issue. I don't see me updating to .11

In the release notes that line is really listed in the "resolved issues" section. I would assume that the installation encountered some issue during your installation run. But perhaps someone else here with a 4870x2 will soon try it too.

Re: ATI Catalyst™ 8.11 Display Driver for Vista

I haven't tried 8.11 yet. Is that the full list of resolved issues and changes? If yes, I don't find a reason to change from 8.10

EDIT: I checked the release notes. Nothing important for me, I will skip this release.

Re: ATI Catalyst™ 8.11 Display Driver for Vista

• Hardware acceleration is not enabled when playing HD content using Cyberlink

....umm would this explain why I get no video when I play Blu-ray's with my HD4870 and PowerDVD? Under PowerDVD video section, the H/W acceleration is greyed out, but checked as if you cannot deselect.... hmmm....

I haven't been using PowerDVD but have a look at what I wrote earlier.

Re: ATI Catalyst™ 8.11 Display Driver for Vista

How can they fix an Age of Conan DX10 problem when AoC doesn't use DX10?

Re: ATI Catalyst™ 8.11 Display Driver for Vista

The game will support DirectX 10 eventually and they're working on it with the game developer.
