Re: ATI Catalyst™ 9.6 Display Driver for Windows Vista

I tried installing this for my Mobility Radeon HD 3450 using mobility modder and towards the end of the install it encountered a packaging error. i then rebooted and upon login i was greeted to two pop ups. one saying something about MOMImlementation and the other was a Windows .Net Framework error. saying there was an error creating a window handle. Anyway i cant get in to catalyst control center at all, i get this message:

"Could not load file or assembly 'CLI.Implementation, Version=2.0.3427.27797, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=90ba9c70f846762e' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

I'm going to restore windows to before i installed the driver but i was wondering if theres any advice someone here could offer.

From 9.4 I used the 9.6 to uninstall them, reboot, install 9.6, reboot.
The CCC would constantly, constantly crash. Whether in a game or when just trying to access it!
Some times it would reload with my settings, sometimes not.
I removed it, made sure there was nothing left, re installed it. Same problems.
Downgraded to 9.5 Same problem.
I removed again everything, re installed 9.4 and all is fine.

Re: ATI Catalyst™ 9.6 Display Driver for Windows Vista

I get 10FPS less with Crossfire enabled in Oblivion. The only way I can get Crossfire to run in Oblivion with these drivers is to use the old AFR-FriendlyD3D trick. Then FPS goes up to where it should be, but you get a lot of flickering.

Calling it MassEffect has the same result as AFR-FriendlyD3D. I get Crossfire with AA and flickering. Naming it Crysis or GRID, enables Crossfire well with no flickering but no AA, or that is, I can't force it.

I find it odd personally. Crossfire use to be fantastic with Oblivion.

Once they have a working profile for a game I don't know why they wouldn't include it in later drivers or alter it.

Age of Conan currently has crazy flickering shadows with Crossfire enabled. The only solution is to turn them completely off at this time.

It happens with SLi too and you can cure it so it only occurs briefly when you zone by deleting the local.shader.cache (for DX9) and the DX10 cache, if you are using DX10. That fix doesn't work with Crossfire for whatever the reason.

It's kind of disappointing because I thought AMD were going to push the multi-GPU thing. I don't see how they can do that the way they are currently treating Crossfire support. I understand it sometimes takes time to get a profile out for new games. I don't understand breaking perfectly functional driver game profiles in later revisions. I'd leave those in and be.

Guess I will file a bug report.

Re: ATI Catalyst™ 9.6 Display Driver for Windows Vista

Is it possible to mod the drivers for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570?

Can't install any display drivers on my new laptop, as Packard Bell's drivers doesn't work.
