Unknown device after driver installation

Good day to you,

I had to upgrade my windows 7 to 64bit just to be able to play Aion, the upcoming mmo from NCsoft, but that's another term.

After a full new system reinstall I've installed the newest ATI Catalyst drivers. Everything worked fine until I had some bluescreens of death. I googled through this shit and I figured out, that I have an unknown driver in my device manager. The only driver I had installed so far was the ATI driver, so it could only be it. I also figured out that if I don't have any graphic drivers installed, I won't get bluescreened.

I really don't know what might be the cause for this problem. Everything worked really well for my 32bit win7 so far. Now I'm using the newest build with 64bit and it's only messing around. Of course I installed the 64bit display drivers.

The blue screen is also well known, it's Driver IRQL less or equal. My graphic card worked really well since that time i purchased it a year ago (hd 3870).

I really hope there is a solution, I don't want to install another windows 7 another time, because it was a mess to fix all those saved user data.

have u installed the chipset software? also post your specs, whether in the signature location, or the systems specs tab in you profile. it will help give a better understanding of the situation.

This sounds very familiar - when I first built my computer when the 790FX chipset launched, I was getting the same problem.

Like [hobo]eclipse suggested, d/l and install the latest chipset software. I'd also recommend updating your motherboard's BIOS, though if you do, DISCONNECT YOUR HDD!!!

Last and probably least, it might be your PSU (insufficient juice). However try the chipset / BIOS updates first!

Are you overclocking the system at all etc? Memory problems overheating can always cause those sorts of issues. What are your temps?
