X2500 drivers?
I have an Acer Travelmate 5720G laptop running Vista which has an ATI Radeon Mobility X2500, and I've just installed Windows 7 on it in dual boot.
In Windows 7 it is using generic VGA drivers. I've hunted around but I can't find Windows 7 drivers for the X2500. The Acer support site does not list Windows 7 drivers for that model of laptop. I did try downloading the Windows 7 drivers for the 5725G laptop from the Acer support page but the drivers do not seem to install - I guess the 5725G must not have a X2500 graphics card. Is there any way of getting Win7 ATI drivers for the X2500 ? |

Re: X2500 drivers?
Hi there,
I encountered a problem with the similar hardware: Acer TravelMate 5720G ATI Mobility Radeon X2500 (256mb) Windows 7 Professional Windows 7 will use a generic VGA card driver until I do the modding of your driver. Here is what I did: 1)Downloaded 9.11 drivers (9-11_vista32_win7_32_dd) 2)Turned off UAC (used the lever in the systems settings) 3)Extracted the drivers and cancelled installation 4)Downloaded, installed and successfully used the modder tool 5)Ran setup.exe - everything okay 6)Reboot The video card now shows up in the hardware manager as ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1700, but has a warning icon attached to it. When opening the properties of the item, it will display the message "The device was stopped because it reported an error (Code 43)". On the "driver" tab the following information is shown: Ati Technologies Date: 04 November 2009 Version 8.671.0.0 However, the driver doesn't seem to work, as I cannot select any resolution above 1024x786 (which kinda blows on a widescreen panel) and Aero is disabled. Things I tried: -Hitting "update driver" and let Windows do the search -->results in installation of generic VGA driver. -"Update driver" and then selecting the list of drivers currently available on the computer. In this list of compatible hardware X1700 and X2500 both show up, but the installation fails with the message "Appropriate drivers for this device were found, but an error occured during installation. This service will be marked for deletion" Any suggestions? What am I doing wrong here? btw: all error messages are translated from German and may not be 1 to 1 in wording Cheers Seb
