running dual monitors
I'm not sure if I'm in the right place but a friend recommended this site. I recently installed a Radeon HD 5770 graphics card along with a bigger power supply for my HP desktop. I'm running Vista home 32 bit, and my goal was to run dual monitors so that I could use one to watch TV (Windows Media Center) and the other for whatever. Well my problem is that when I pull up Windows Media Center onto my #2 monitor, I can not get the cursor to go back over to my #1 monitor. I have the monitors set up in the extended desktop mode if that helps. Probably a simple set up thing but I just can't seem to figure it out. Thanks for any help.

Re: running dual monitors
Does that only happen with media center, or with other programs also?

Re: running dual monitors
So far, I've only seen it happen with Windows Media Center. Now when I go to another site like Hulu and watch a show or movie and I expand it to full screen, I can go back over to the #1 monitor but as soon as I click on anything the full screen (on #2 monitor) will drop back to the regular screen. Hope this makes sense. Thanks again for any suggestions.

Re: running dual monitors
I've seen this before when attempting this with my laptop while at University.
Basically, I wanted to do work on the laptop while my friends could watch something on my TV. If you full-screen video on Screen 2, clicking on Screen 1 will cancel the full-screen request. The only way I got around this was to use a media player with really thin border / frame (like the now discontinued Core Media Player) and maximise (not full-screen) the window on Screen 2. I'd be very interested if you find a solution however, as I am no longer in University so don't have a second monitor to find / test a solution. cause_of_chaos

Re: running dual monitors
Yeah i ran into this annoying issue as well... A number of programs will "lock" the mouse to within the applications gui area. And a number of programs will emediately "leave" a full screen view if the mouse isn't locked but used elsewhere.
I know the windows media player, PowerDVD, and a very select number of games will allow you to avoid these issues. But if i recall right, this doesn't work in windows media player under vista.. and while i haven't tried, i don't think it's been changed under win7.. However microsoft may have a registery fix or something Looking around it appears there is a chance to be able to allow the mouse to become unlocked and to remain full screen by hitting CRTL+ESC or using the windows key. ALT Tabing to get around. Sometimes it works.. I didn't find any REAL solution outside of the initial Google searches though

Re: running dual monitors
BTW, this thread should be moved to a windows vista forum as this has no relation to being a driver or hardware related issue

Re: running dual monitors
Thanks Judas!!!! The CTRL+ESC trick worked with the Windows media center. I wasn't sure if it was a driver problem or not so that is why I put it here.
