Having problems with the 10.1 drivers.

Used the all-in-one install(CCC+driver+etc) exe, on Windows 7 Pro x64.

During installation at the part where it installs the display driver, it says that the screen may flicker or blank.
The screen did go blank for a while (9.12 did too) but when it came back the screen resolution becomes wrong(a 4:3 instead of wide) and Aero is off.
After the installation a restart is requested.

On restart, the resolution is still wrong and Aero is still off.
Tried to change the resolution but the native resolution is not on the slider.
Then a dialog box shows up saying "No ATI graphics driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning properly. Please install the ATI driver appropriate for your ATI hardware."

I went to Device Manager, theres the yellow exclamation at the "ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO" entry.
On clicking it the windows shows "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"
And for that the system is using the VgaSave driver for graphics.

One thing to note is for the very first install(before the multiple reinstalls) I uninstalled 9.12, went to safe mode and ran Driver Sweeper before I install 10.1.

I uninstalled and reinstalled 10.1 a few times but its always the same thing.
I thought maybe its a corrupted installer and redownloaded the exe file but it doesn't help.

But 9.12 works fine.
Compared to 10.1, 9.12 comes back on with Aero still on and the right screen resolution during the installation.
And also it did not ask for a restart after the installation.


Does anyone have any clue to this problem?

First of all, with 9.12 installed and working properly, simply run the installer for the 10.1 drivers and install "over the top". This really IS the correct way to do it. When you get to the screen that prompts for Install or Uninstall, just select the Install option and go.

After this, if you still have problems with things not working, please report back and we'll go from there.

I guess there is some bug in 10.1 for some user i got lots of problem installing it....so i get back to 9.12....will better wait 10.2....first time ATI driver suck for me.

I have the exact same problem as iron.... everything installs but comes back with the exact messages iron is getting. This happens clean as well as 'over the top'. Windows 7 Ultimate x64 here. back to the 9.12's

Relieved that I'm not the only one having the problem.

Looks like I'll wait for 10.2 too, hope the problem is fixed then.

Hi guys,

I have the exact same problem. I even went so far as doing a clean-install (my PC was due for one anyway) but continue to get the same result.

Clean = no good, over the top = no good. Running Vista 32.

Have used DCleaner to remove all traces of ATI, and am about to re-install 9.12.

Must say though, I'm so glad I'm not alone

Quick update: I finally managed to get 9.12 working again. Tried the hotfix on ATI's site - no good.

Still, for those who want to try the hotfix - The very first 'Sticky" on the HardwareHeaven "Windows 7 vista redeon display drivers" thread (the parent of this thread), has a post from RobbyMc that has the ATI Hotfix link.

Please post here if you suceed, as I will grab 10.1 as soon as there is a confirmed workaround.

Fixed in 10.2!

10.2 install and works fine here.

I installed the 10.2s on a Vista 64 partition, and got an odd response.

Install went OK, I did the re-boot as requested.

After the re-boot, it told me that it couldn't find any hardware for CCC to use.

I was like "!?!?!?". SO, I did another re-boot, and after the 2nd boot all went well, and it seems to be working fine.
