I need help installing modified drivers please

I've been trying to get modified drivers to work for hours! I can' figure out why the mod won't work. I have a feeling I'm missing something very important.

I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2300 graphics card in a laptop running Windows 7 professional. I've never installed modified drivers before. The drivers I'm currently using are called: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2300 (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.1)

Here is exactly what I've been doing:

1. Downloaded and installed Mobility Modder.Net

2. Made sure that my UAC slider is all the way at the bottom, indicating that it should never notify me.

3. I downloaded the newest desktop drivers from ati (10-2_vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu) which was version 10.2

4. Uninstalled the old ATI drivers with the device manager and used Driver Sweeper to remove all ATI file remnants. I did not restart after this because windows keeps installing the old ATI drivers automatically.

5. Opened the driver file I downloaded, extracted the contents then canceled the installation.

6. Used Mobility Modder.Net to mod the files (C:\ATI\Support\10-2_vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu)

7. Ran the Setup.exe found in (C:\ATI\Support\10-2_vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu)

8. Express installed and waited for it to finish. It finishes pretty quickly and says: Installation complete(warnings occurred during installation)

After this I have no new drivers. Restarting causes the old drivers to be reinstalled automatically.

Any help would be appreciated.
