I'm afraid that Phillips 5604 doesn't tell us anything. There are so many variations of Phillips TVs that have that set of numbers in them, there's no way anyone can determine just which model you have.

Be that as it may, have you...

1. Overclocked your video card?

2. Enabled V-Sync?

3. Double-checked that the cables are securely connected?

4. Made sure you have the TV set for PC connection -- if available?

Which of the latest ATI drivers are you using? Official 10.3, the Preview 10.4 or the Preview 10.4a?

2. In CCC, at the 3D options, ALL tab, scroll down and move the "Wait for vertical sync" slider all the way to the right.

4. This option "SHOULD" be in your TV's OSD Menu. The menus vary so I can't give you explicit instructions, but, there usually is an option to select between a regular TV input and a PC...or Computer...input. This usually makes the images and text much clearer and crisper than would be with normal TV input selection.

What are the conditions under which this flicker happens? Games, Videos, just browsing the WEB.... or ???

Re: need help connecting my pc with radeon to tv using hdmi

personally i've never seen that option dyre in any of the samsung/philips/toshiba/sony/panisonic and a few other knock offs where while in HDMI mode, gives the user the option to enable a "PC" style function (which would suggest RBG mode)..

However, the samsung tvs and many others are "saposed" to have automatic detection so the PC mode is a little moot for some cases.

However i've personally never gotten ATI's HDMI output to work, ever, period, to any satisfactory degree which just really pisses me off as both ATI and Samsung pretty much say it's the others fault, and i'm more included to blame ATI since every conceiveable device i attach to the samsung tv's or any other tv for that matter works straight away 100% beautifully in both picture quality and the works. Even Intel of all companies seems to get it right too, so why the hell can't nvidia and ati, the leaders of graphics card and whatnot, get off their asses and get it right?

And not just limited to samsung, many other tv brands..

Anywhoe, Usually the number one factor for flickering is HDCP communication is being dropped and requireing a reactivation which causes 99% of the tv's i've seen to "flicker" and then work until the next time the HDCP gets lost again (EVEN if you not running anything that requires HDCP)

Reason i noticed this is because while playing HDCP content, a machine i had connected to a tv would experience the occasional flicker and pretty much right on time when i was expecting it to flicker, powerDVD 9 gave me a HDCP error and killed playback.

the Number one cause of this is typically a bad cable OR the length of cable you are using just isn't compliant for it.

I ran into this similare issue with a 25foot HDMI cable, it was simply to long for the task, wasn't built to the quality specs required for that length or any combination, replaced it with a shorter 15 and the issues disappeared.

Actually i just ran into a 15ft DVI cable issue last night that would REFUSE to allow proper HDCP support across the cables, it just simply WOULDN'T work at all, and i've multiples of that cable, it got so bad that i started having other issues and thought my computer was having a freak out. Nope it was the cables.

Replaced them with again with the previous "shorter" or different style cables and everything went to being gravy.

Quite the irritation.

btw, 6ft HDMI cables for anything under i'd say $20 is a gamble..... it seems to work that your chances of a cable that will be 100% working condition for that kind of price seems tob e about 20%.. the remaining 80% either fails to work at all, appears to work with problems or falls appart relatively easily.

Re: need help connecting my pc with radeon to tv using hdmi

@Judas: Really appreciate the long and detailed reply.

The two brands of LCDs I've bought are Chimei and ViewSonic. So, that's where my experience is limited.

I read some reviews for the ViewSonic I have and a few mentioned some very blurry text. This issue, I found on my own, was due to the reviewer simply not selecting the "PC" option in the OSD. Both ViewSonics I have needed to have that option enabled in order to get crisp, clear text.

The only other HDTV we have here is a 32 inch Sony Bravia that my son is using. On that one, he was complaining of blurriness when he first hooked it up. I changed it to the PC connection and it's perfect now. So, at least on that model, I did find an option to select the type of source and changed it. The only thing I'm not sure of, offhand without looking, is what type cable he's using. It may be the DVI -> VGA adapter as he's using a HD 3870 vidcard. That might explain things and why there may have been the option to make the selection.

Anyway, for the OP, it does sound like maybe he needs better quality or shorter cables from what you've written.

Cheers!
