Re: ATI Catalyst™ 10.5 Display Driver for Windows Vista/Win 7
For those who play Battlefield Bad Company 2, I read that the long loading time in DX11 mode is back. Hotfix driver package will be out in a couple of days to remedy that, so you might want to wait.
Edit: ehm.., installation was a bit troublesome here. First installing straight over 10.4 I got the Green Stripes of Death -screen at the end of the installation. After rebooting there were all sorts of problems for the CCC to run, so I uninstalled using the ATI routine to remove all software. After the next installation went through ok I was greated by the "driver not installed or functioning properly" box. Rebooting after that seems to have cleared it. Perhaps everyone might want to wait for that hotfix.

Re: ATI Catalyst™ 10.5 Display Driver for Windows Vista/Win 7
Uhm.., there now seems to be an idle clock problem that if you change the card clocks in Overdrive then the lowest idle core clock becomes 400 and memory clock won't lower at all. Normal idle clock behavior is 157/300 otherwise. I'm guessing it's related to their changes to allow overclocking while using multiple displays.
Edit: Confirmed, it's a change to help stability while overclocking with multiple displays, for now. A more elegant solution may lie ahead. It makes a great deal of difference for idle/low load power consumption so for now I'm not overclocking my 5850 anymore. Last edited by mkk; Jun 2, 2010 at 08:57 AM. |

Are you asking or stating?
Per my test with Furmark, here's what I get..... ![]() So, clearly, at least on my system, I have OpenGL 4.0 installed and Furmark is using it. |

Re: ATI Catalyst™ 10.5 Display Driver for Windows Vista/Win 7
Ah, my bad. It was the Heaven 2.0 bench that didn't support OpenGL4.0.
I do know that 10.3 didn't have OGL 4 but it seems like 10.5 does now that I've tried it properly so I'm all happy. Just wonder why they don't say anywhere in the release notes that it's been included. Got to update the driver in my Ubuntu 10.4 as well... |

@mkk -- I installed 10.5 (both for XP and Win7) with no problem, even with my card's clock. Will be testing more game performance this weekend
