Re: ATI Catalyst™ 10.6 Suite for Windows Vista/7

I've had some weird stuff happening with this set of drivers.

1. The first installation attempt resulted in a blank screen and locked system after the first screen flicker where the display drivers are being installed. Upon the next "flicker" the system locked with a black screen. Hard reset and 2nd install succeeded.

2. Just came in from dinner and, upon bringing my displays up from a blank screensaver, only a very small far left portion of the screen Desktop was showing. Everything else was black. Went to scroll over and, as the mouse cursor moved across the screen, the Desktop started showing up under where the mouse cursor had been. Right clicked and did a Refresh and the entire Desktop showed up.

It definitely would be nice to get updated drivers that don't BREAK things in the process. I'll see how things go for a couple of days and whether or not there's a hotfix for issues released soon.

Re: ATI Catalyst™ 10.6 Suite for Windows Vista/7

Installation went fine here, unlike 10.4 to 10.5. Idle clocks are still high after overclocking which increases idle power usage about 10-20W depending on card model. ATI are aware of this and it's related to solving a problem for dual/triple screen users, as introduced in 10.5.

How does one get the clocks back down where they should be?

Ah so you have to manually overclock to have the issue. I thought it just occurred w/ the normal ramp up.

Re: ATI Catalyst™ 10.6 Suite for Windows Vista/7

With 10.4 drivers I could OC my card to max in CCC. Then with 10.5 I had to lower it a bit to avoid having blue-striped screens. With 10.6 I had to lower it even a bit more to avoid getting yellow-striped or completely black screens..

Weally stwange...

This is a very annoying problem... I've turned my OC off because of it.

Those drivers went broke to me. After 10.6. Lockups occurred if vsync was on, random lockups and performance went down also.
For some reason the crossfire that 5970 has onboard also stopped working.

After applying 10.5 everything was fine again.
