Just Wondering

Currently I am using the Catalyst 9.6 set of drivers for my computer. I'm wondering how often you guys change your drivers for your video cards?

You have a 5870 and you're using 9.6 driver?

Was even the card released when 9.6 was new? You should definately update your driver, there's a bunch of improvements.

I upgrade almost every time a new driver is released. If it doesn't work any better or if it causes problems I just roll back to the previous. In general there is some small improvement in every new driver as long as the card is still supported.

Ahem, my bad. Please excuse my typo. I'm currently using the 10.6 catalyst Suite of drivers.

Re: Just Wondering

With a relatively new card like the 5870 then there are still driver enhancements and optimizations to be made so I would update every time the new Cats are released. After I'd had my last card a couple of years I just read the release notes to see if any optimizations had been made for my card or for games I specifically played as the drivers were mature enough and I had no problems.

Re: Just Wondering

I'm using some 10.10 Beta drivers at present on my HD 5770.

But, as stated, with such a fairly new card, you really should update whenever new drivers are released.

As for the official 10.10s....I'll venture a guess that they'll be released sometime next week after the launch of the new cards this coming Friday.
