Problem Running Transparency Glass in Windows 7
Hi, my computer has a problem running transparency glass on windows mode. When i try to manipulate windows it leaves blocks of colors across my screen. When I tried to take a screenshot, nothing showed up and it looked perfectly normal. It works fine when I have SC2 running in the background on windows mode though. I've tried reverting back to older drivers but the same problem occurs. Could this be a problem with hardware?
I'm using Windows 7 64-bit with an HD 5770 card. I was running 10.9 previously with no problems. It only began occuring this past week and half. I didn't install any new drivers or anything new for that matter in that time frame. |

Re: Problem Running Transparency Glass in Windows 7
this might be odd.. but the number 1 reason i find Aero glass to either malfuction... have issues.... not work properly is usually due to physical memory issues.. either be it on the video card OR the ram modules.
If you force Basic mode does things tend to work without error?

Yes, with basic mode on, everything runs without a hitch. Even with just transparent glass turned off, everything runs fine.
Edit: Other specs: i5 750 2.66 GHz 8 GB DDR3 300 Watts Power Supply Last edited by Kiric; Oct 19, 2010 at 08:41 PM. |

Re: Problem Running Transparency Glass in Windows 7
If it was any of the system RAM, then it would BSOD. The problem points to video RAM corruption. The fact that a print screen will not show the artifacts further points to a video RAM corruption. Maybe the 2D settings on the card are set too low in VBIOS, since you said 3D looks fine, but it can also be a driver issue, very common with AMD cards unfortunately
The 300W power supply also sounds low, can you give us some info on that, like the wattage on the 12V rail(s)?

Re: Problem Running Transparency Glass in Windows 7
How do i get into VBIOS? Is it through BIOS or do we get into it through windows? And if the problem has to do with drivers how would I fix it. Reverting to an older version did not fix the problem.
