Hi,
I have Dell Inspiron 9400 with ATI Mobility Radeon x1400 & Windows 7 64-bit. Without any drivers, everything ran in usual mode. When I installed drivers from here and restarted the pc, the screen went blank (precisely very dim). However, when I added secondary display, I found the laptop was perfectly fine including video card except the primary screen (laptop ones) remains blank. I would appreciate if you can advise me some solutions. It is for sure not a hardware problem. ![]() ![]() Have this problem for months...even replace the screen as well as inverter.

Have you tried going back to the latest driver supplied by DELL?
Otherwise I suggest that you download this driver: ATI Catalyst? Legacy Display Driver And use the mobility modder you can find on this page and modify it yourself. |

Dell has stopped supporting this card.
I tried your suggestion. First, I removed all ATI related drivers and software twice; then I installed Drivers from your link and used the modder. The results were same...i.e. Drivers does get installed...they do seem to work fine but the problem is primary screen (Laptop) goes blank (actually very very dim). Overall, there seems to be some problem with communication between video card and LCD inverter. Please help |
