question AMD radeon HD 6470 m
Hello!
I just bought a new laptop (HP) and I am not sure if everything is ok with my graphic drivers. In device manager under the section display adapters I have two lines: - AMD radeon HD 6400m series - ATI Mobility radeon HD 4200 series Is it supposed to be like that or do I need to update some drivers? I have graphic card: AMD radeon HD 6470m 1gb I am not sure if this is a stupid question, but anyhowe I would apriciate it if someone could help me explain if that's ok or not? Thank you for your time, greetz, Uros |

Re: question AMD radeon HD 6470 m
it same like notebook that have nvidia optimus. when the laptop is in normal usage the on board graphic HD 4200 will be used but when u use application that need high graphic usage the HD 6470m will kick in.it will help in reducing the power usage and lengthen the battery life. lots of notebook these day have dual graphics.

Re: question AMD radeon HD 6470 m
Exactly. The 4200 is built into the chipset and is configured to be used while doing day-to-day things like surfing, word-processing and such and then when you start a game it switches over to the 6470 for better gaming performance.
Just be careful if you update the drivers so you get the correct one, otherwise you might end up with having only one of them avaliable in any mode. I experienced this myself with my first laptop with dual graphics and I had to revert to the original driver to get it right again. |
