Radeon\ asus EAH3450 - windows 7 FIX
Hi,
I got the asus\ ATI radion EAH3450 a few days ago. Since then i have been trying to get it to work! - And i did =D. I have now just found that with the high definition audio controller that come with the Card seem to be the actual culprit behind the 100% CPU usage an not CCC.EXE or MOM.EXE as first thought because they are viable on Task manager. I have just tested this - i disabled the High definition audio controller and instantly my computer was responsive as expected. You`d be forgiven in thinking they would not cause this strange behaviour but it actually does. It can be found under SYSTEMS DEVICES in device manager, just disable it, you will still have sound. Any feedback is welcome. |

Re: Radeon\ asus EAH3450 - windows 7 FIX
Hi and welcome to HardwareHeaven!
![]() That's a good fix as long as you don't intend to connect any HD devices to your graphics card, because if you do, what you did disabled the card's sound output. There have been many reports of ATI sound not playing well with the on-board sound and causing all sort's of trouble when the first generations of cards that had it's own sound came out. There are tutorials on the order in which you should install your drivers to avoid this, although I've personally always used the trusty "mobo drivers first, graphics card driver second" method and I haven't had any problems. Or maybe you have a conflict with the previous drivers you had as your current card is a replacement as far as I understood. In that case, maybe you could try to uninstall any previous and current graphics card drivers (maybe use Driver Cleaner to remove any remaining files or registry entries) and then reinstall, if you're not too sick of it. ![]() Or just leave it as it is if it works for you.

Re: Radeon\ asus EAH3450 - windows 7 FIX
After checking around for help, this option never come up as a fix solution or at least so you can use the PC an find the audio solution later.
I will say this... ok maybe disabling it isant suck a good fix as when i restarted.... windows 7 restarted the device again. So i have now uninstalled it an stopped 7 putting in drivers with out my consent in the GPEDIT.MSC control pannel - Wouldnt you just remove the onboard sound drivers to stop the conflict..... ?

By disabling onboard sound, you lose sound in yous speakers. The sound device on your graphics card is only responsible for outputting sound via the card's HDMI out.
