Which Wireless Cards Works with Vista
Hello,
My Netgear WPN311 wireless card will not work with vista. I tried a manual install with no joy. So instead of hammering a round peg through a square whole which wireless cards are working for February Vista? I will buy the one that works. Stan |

The wireless card should work just fine. I had trouble getting the driver to work with the 64-bit vista beta, but solved the entire problem when I learned that the issue was not with the card or the driver, but with windows, itself. What is happening is this - although the drivers install alright, because they are not digitally signed, Windows won't let them work. This can be remedied in one of two ways: first, by hitting F8 before windows loads and disabling digital signing (this must be done every time windows boots), or, second, disabling it permanently in the PC recovery console (which can only be reached via a Windows installation CD) by entering "bcdedit.exe -set nointegritychecks ON". Here is the link to the forum where I got this from: http://www.planetamd64.com/index.php...ith+Promise+FT . And here is the link for the WPN311 driver I am using http://members.driverguide.com/drive...riverid=690898 (I think the download includes both 64-bit and 32-bit drivers). Disabling the "digitally signed" stipulation also fixed the problems I was having with my sound card, so it should be useful for other driver issues also.
