Right I've Downloaded Windows Vista Beta 2 - How Do I Install

Before i start i will be asking some n00bish questions. I did know the answer to these questions at one point but i've completly forgotten them.

I want to install Windows Vista but i want to keep my XP. I would assumne i would need to create a dual boot but how do i do that? i've completly forgotten (would i need to make another partition? and i've forgotten how to do that as well )

also i downloaded this tool to see if my pc can cope with vista and it can but it did warn me that i would need to download some drivers when i install to make it work. it said i would need to get Vista drivers for my

Realtek AC'97 7.1 Audio
Hauppauge HVR 1100
Logitech Driving Force Pro
nVidia nForce Networking Controller (this is important because without this i will have no internet!)
and something called AMD Special Tools Driver and WinDriver

also it says i will need new drivers for my webcam but i don't really care about that at the moment

does anyone know where to get these? and can anyone tell me anything important about the vista install that i shoud know about before i do it?

Cheers

create another partition on your HD ( at least 10 gig ) then boot from the vista CD and at 1 point it will ask you where you want to install too , choose the new partition

once its finioshed you will have a choice at startup to run windows ( vista ) or older version of windows ( XP )

and the Nforce drivers are included on the vista CD my network card was the same and worked as soon as the install was finished

hope that helps

there are many ways to have a dual boot system or to partition your existing hard drive. if i can find a good article about these again i will post.
anyway, don't forget to have a full backup of the current main Windows system first. unless you think this idea is not worth the efforts or archiving.

o.k now i'm struggling. i've remembered how to make partitions from a blank hard drive but that is not what i want to do.

my hdd is one big partition with XP Home Edition on. It is currently used up 62.1GB and i have 52.1GB left. I want to take 30GB from that free space and make it into another partition but without effecting my XP install (i would defenatly not want to format if i can do this without formating but if i have to it isn't the end of the world)
Any ideas?

i'm sorry for triple posting but i'm in a bad mood atm. all day i've been trying to find an answer to my problem and failing miserable and in the process i've messed up my Nero 7 as well so i'm well pissed.

I've tried my best and my hardest to try to find how to create a partition from free space in my one huge partition and it ridiculous how hard it is. I've downloaded every possible program that i can find and their either too complicated, don't work, don't do the purpose there ment to, or work but then start saying "This is a demo version you must fork out your whole life savings for this program to work" and shit like that.

Can some one please tell me what to do. It can't be this hard i mean come on how hard is it to install fucking Vista!!!!! Please someone bloody help!!!!

edit: sorry for my angry reaction but i'm in a really bad mood over this and atm i want to throw my pc out the window

In order to create a blank partition from free space without destroying the data in the existing partition, it looks like you're going to have to purchase software for the task - I don't know of any free software that does the job of PartitionMagic or Acronis Disk Director...

A program available for free that comes close (no "on the fly" resizing support - yet - which sounds like what you need ...) is Partition Logic.

i'm now thinking of buying a new hd for vista but i've hit a big snag. i've just read a bit of news off DH (can't find it now, can someone point it out to me?) that Vista Beta 2 will stop being availiable to the public on Friday. I've already downloaded the iso file and the key but it also said (i think) if you haven't activated Vista you need to by the 14th of July, is this true or did i misread it?

So basically i need to get a HD by 14th July if i want to use Vista?
