ATI RC1 Beta Drivers.....Big Corruption Woes

I downloaded the RC1 Beta drivers and they are a big headache.

Anytime I try to access anything as mundane as the Device Manager, I get a screen full of corruption. The system does get active (per the HDD LED on the front of the computer) but, the only way I can get a viewable screen again is to press the ESC key....effectively killing any activity I had just started.

Even in Safemode, Vista Pre-RC1 doesn't work well uninstalling device drivers. Once I reboot the computer the supposedly uninstalled drivers are right back.

Annoying as all get out, it is.

EDIT: This is NUTS!!

I finally booted up into Vista Safemode and uninstalled the ATI devices.

Then, I was able to boot into regular Vista and start the Uninstall of CCC and the ACE Excalibur.

WHY>>>> is it taking 30 minutes to just collect information before starting the uninstall process??? I can't believe this.

Is this the corruption you get?

I'm getting this too. Every 'system screen' (log-in, device manager etc) all I get is a bunch of pale blue and brown stripes across the screen. It's a real pain in the arse especially seeing as the drivers for Beta 2 were faultless! Has anyone tried using them?

Read my post here. It's for the Vista RC1 and ATI RC1 drivers.

Nice, cheers. That's one of my Vista woes sorted - now to find out what's stopping the keyboard from working everytime I restart!

Find ATI Beta2 drivers?

Does anyone know where to grab a copy of the ATI Beta2 drivers? I have the exact same problem with the display corruption, however mine is both on the logon screen and all UAC prompts. The Microsoft drivers appear to work fine with Windows, but games like Half life 2 show all kinds of texture issues - pink chess board everywhere? I've already submitted this issue to the Catalyst Crew Feedback form to add my voice to the chorus.

So, i'm back to a half-working copy of Vista RC1 which otherwise is fairly decent. Driverheaven's download section only has RC1 and same with ATI and most other download sites. Unfortunately, when i went from pre-rc1 to rc1, i didn' think i would need the beta 2 driver and i formatted the hd for a fresh install. Anyone that knows where a copy of the beta 2 driver can be obtained or if the driverheaven mods can upload it to the download section, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

~nstuff

Finally found a site that has a copy. All others I found linked directly to ATI's own site and they pulled it after RC1 was released. For anyone else looking for ATI beta 2 drivers, grab them here: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/297

Just to let everyone know, I installed the ATI RC1 beta drivers and they are working fine for me. I'm not getting any of the display corruption that I've read about in some of the other posts. I've noticed that I cannot enable my Crosssfire though.

I've installed the ATI VISTA RC1 driver without problem. I just lost the transparency (not entire glass).
