Can't install RC1 with 2 HDD

Hey there,
I've tried to install RC1 build 5600 but it always froze at the very beginning, showing me only that blue-green wallpaper and that's it. I got 2 HDD, one PATA (XP installed on it) and one SATA. I've tried everything but no luck. Only after I've unplugged the PATA drive, the installation worked as it should have, allowing me to install Vista (but I chose not to) on the SATA drive.

Can someone help? I need both HDD plugged in.

Greetings and welcome to Driverheaven!

I had noticed that you posted. However, I was between RC1 5600 and RC1 interim build.

However, I've had no problem installing Vista (three versions now) on a system with FOUR Harddrives, TWO CD/DVD drives and several USB devices.

Two of my drives are SATA and two are IDE/PATA.

I'm installing Vista on one of my IDE/PATA drives without any problem. (Other than it taking an hour and a half to do so.)

I've got the same type problem I have 3 HDD one sata two ide the sata has xp on and all my other stuff so I thaught i'd install Vista on a spare 10GB Maxtor IDE i.e install XP then upgrade. XP went on ok and after installing SP2 I began the vista installation however when it gets to what HDD you want to install it say it can't detect the HDD even though it is displayed as a target drive. I have diable the other two HDD but this dosn't help I cant even upgrade whats going on????

First off: HA! Ultimate installed on a 20gb disk!

Secondly, my windows folder is 10gb and change. That could be partly because I have the x64 build, but I am sure it is still damned big on the x86 version. Also, if you have a 10gb hd and the install only took like 9gb, 1gig would not be a whole hell of a lot to play around with, so they suggest more space to start out with.
