First off, I am using build 5728. If I should go back to 5600, let me know.
Anyway, my net speed is piss poor. I can boot into XP and get dl speeds of almost 2 MBps (mega bytes) while in vista, I can barely access windows vista's own website; it will just not load. I have not done any research, as I just installed vista yesterday, so try not to flame me too harshly. System Specs: AMD 64 4600+ nVidia Nforce 4 Ultra chipset 400 GB SATA HD 250 GB, 20 GB PATA HD Radeon X1900 All-In-Wonder 2.50 GB RAM Last edited by SoberTillNoon; Sep 27, 2006 at 10:20 AM. |

what kind of your network adapter, and does it need a driver for the vista to recognize it?

It is the mobo adapter. Also, it worked just as crappy before I installed the x64 mobo drivers (which I did in XP...).

I have Vista x64 build 5728 installed, using the nForce 4 Ultra's net adapter.. I haven't seen any performance drops on it ... since the Vista is in beta stage and drivers for it are, i would expect things like this to appear...

Well, turned out it was vista. I just went to "diagnose and repair" in the Network and Sharing center. Turns out there was some kind of TCP conflict.

No, vista is not getting blamed. I think it did an excellent job knowing that it had a problem and then fixing it. I just wish I had found how to make it look sooner.

I have not really noticed a difference. Maybe some optimizations but not anything I can tell. Though, something in my XP install is screwing with my D (vista install) drive and I have to reformat it again, I think I am going to use Vista as my primary for the time being because I do not want to have to reinstall two operating systems, just one.

well, with your hardware i think you can enjoy it more than other with a more lower spec computer...
not talking about software bugs, its useablility or flexibility with programs and hardware/software services/drivers things like that... since we can't have it all at this beta builds as you knew, so those things will have to be a tradeoff as of now. |

Just to add for anyone who is having this problem, it is the Advanced TCP Settings that Vista likes to put on that did this. But, to be fair, I think it is my school's old hardware that is causing the conflict.
