I don't know if this app will work on Vista, but if it does it may well interfere with the Superfetch feature which 'learns' how you use your computer and preloads your most used apps for you in order to speed up the system.
It it unloads DLLs which have been preloaded for you by the system, your PC will have to reload them when you want to use the program, thus negating any benefit you might have gained from the Superfetcher's work. But I guess it depends on how you use your system. Auslogic make a piece of software called BoostSpeed (which I have used on Vista x64) which will force the system to free up memory and it didn't have any unpleasant side-effects on the system, although I was only browsing the web at the time. |
