OpenGL apps (maya, C4D, etc.) any future??

Woe,

All OpenGL apps have suffered HUGE performance hits in Vista. Is there ANY hope that we can expect at least EQUIVALENT performance to XP given the changes in how OpenGL is 'implemented' (or not) in Vista? Expert opinions on the subject is needed!! Thanks!!

Thanks!

It's pretty stunning that Microsoft would so blatently cripple OpenGL like this. It puts ATI And Nvidia in a tough position. I think it even puts John Carmack in a bad situation. How far can they keep pushing OpenGL now that Microsoft has taken a stance against it? Fighting Microsoft is often a losing battle - they are incredibly powerful in the marketplace and usually get what they want, one way or another.

It's a stunning defeat for OpenGL.
