Default Post Vista Questions Before install
I hava Vista Ultimate and i havent instaled it yet.

First i wana know if there is drivers for all of my hardware...
Audigy 2zs Sound card
Ati x1900gt - i kno there is for that
Linksys wirlesscard?
and i have a DFI Ut Lanparty Ultra-D motherboard

I am thinking of installing vista on my 2nd hdd so i can have xp and vista at the same time. That what if i dont like vista i can just format that drive and keep xp or if i like vista just format my xp drive...

let me know what you guys think.

you most likely are going to run into some issues with your creative card right off the bat.

The ATI card is going to work flawlessly

your best bet is to go to linksys's website and search for you specific model of card, i could say no or yes to support, but it wouldn't matter as perhaps a specific model has support and another doesn't...

Your best bet is actually what you had orginally planned, install vista, don't activate it, trial it for the 30 days your allowed to. This will let you get the bearings of the OS and how well it runs on the computer. If your not satisfied, you can always remove it, keep the registration and activation of the os from being processed, and if you decide to get a newer machine, you'll have a fresh copy of vista waiting for it. (cause i doubt youll be able to return vista for a refund)

Why don't you run the compatibility wizard from MS to see if you are going to have problems with Vista?

the capability wizard isn't very wise..... i had so many bells and whistles go off on my machine, and my machine was probably one of the smoothest installing vista experiences i've setup yet.

I would guess that you will not have success. In it's current state, Vista is not for the faint of heart.

i installed vista it seems to run pretty good right now i like it alot, i havent installed someo f the drivers for somethings yet like my motherboard stuff, but my wirlesscard worked with xp drivers and before i had a problem with the 7.2drivers in xp but in vista they work great. Havent tried any games yet, but ill let you all know soon

just remember, for some games, you'll HAVE to run it by right clicking and selecting "RUN AS ADMIN"

that goes for some game installs and some games just to play.

well.... kinda depends... i've been installing any and all drivers that have full vista capablity.... if nvidia is supplying a driver for your board for vista, i'd install it.
