I don't have an X-Fi, but I am a little disappointed that it's taking this long to get a half-way decent driver for my Audigy 4.

I know one thing for sure. I will not be buying any more Creative products given their lack of decent support.

Someday, I will build a new machine and I am just gonna make sure that the mobo has on-board 8.1 because realtek has had drivers available for Vista for months already.

I honestly believe these are just repacked beta drivers. Creative needs to have a class action lawsuit going to get some decent drivers out in Vista.

If you guys want to game in Quake4 or Prey, go to your windows/system32 folders and copy the following files into your "base" folders for those games...
CT_oal.dll
wrap_aol.dll

Then, make a copy of the CT_oal.dll into another CLEAN folder and rename it to OpenAL32.dll

Finally, copy that new OpenAL32.dll (which is the same info as CT_oal.dll, I know) into the same base folder. So essentially, you have the same file, just named as two different files. (I don't know why this works, but it does).

I'm beginning to see the appeal of onboard sound - much less complicated.

I'm still learning just how sucky upgrading to Vista is gonna be for some folks too. Changes to the video stuff, wacked out OpenGL changes, audio changes, etc. Man, what a pain.

Heh.... Sorry. The board refused to accept my quickpost option and I got frustrated and kept hitting the button. Thanks to the moderator who repaired the damage.

Now if only they would fix input audio issues...otherwise at least I don't get repeated x-fi driver crashes.

Cant say i notice any difference with these drivers. I was starting to hate my X-Fi too until I dropped my pci latency from 64 to 32 in the bios. It fixed all my popping and sound drops in games and music. Might be worth a look if you have the option?

@apoch003. What troubles do you have with Prey? The Steam version runs just fine for me

about time. my usb audigy 2 NX was apparently getting drivers in December, then end of january, then "1st quarter".

Now they have arrived, they are limited and basically suck. Amazed how such a large company as creative can mess so much up. Their "offical" support forums arent really very positive right now.

I must be the only person satisfied with these drivers for my Audigy 2 ZS. Installed drivers in Vista, disabled CMSS, and my stereo music and surround DVDs both work as well as ever.

No real idea about gaming though, only game I've played recently is Civ IV, which sound works fine for...

These drivers suck as bad as the betas. My X-FI has officially been pulled after screwing with it for a year. Back to onboard, which doesn't support 5.1 in Vista, but at least it isn't raping my machine.
