Java and Firefox

I can't get Java to work with Firefox under Vista Business x64. I downloaded this version of JRE.
It has Firefox plugin and it has been installed. I tried reinstalling JRE. I also tried disabling java in Firefox, restarting, re-enabling and re-restarting, and it still doesn't work. It works in IE 7.
Also, I haven't got Java icon in Control Panel, I can only access Java Control Panel by clicking the icon in the system tray which appears when I open a page with Java in IE. There, it lists the installation of JRE I have made under Java Application Runtime Settings, and on the Advanced tab/Default Java for browsers Mozilla family is checked.
