Slow Battlefield 2 / 2142 Performance

Does anyone else get really realyl bad performance in bf2? I have Vista Ultimate and no programs running in the background when im playing. I get from 20-60fps in bf2 on around medium settings, in Xp i could max out everything and get 40-60fps. The games are just running really terrible, what do you guys get for performance.

im running the bf2,2142 at 1440x900 8aa 16 aff and i get from 80 -150fps

hmmmm, 150FPS when its capped at 100? even removing the limit means it just draws the same frames more than once. Either way you have an 8800 so i wouldnt expect anything less in which case why are you posting that?

Anyway, OP, i have the same problem, constant 80-100 FPS in XP@1680x1050 everything high, 4AA, sound on ultra, then i tried last night n sucky Vista Ultimate 64bit and its between 35-70FPS, averaging at 54, havnt had a worse K/D ratio ages, back to XP for me, sound sux in vista too with my x-fi, even with the latest creative vista drivers,openAL and Alchemy. Vista is not mature enough for gaming, even linux with WINE would give better performance, which im seriously considering now

64 bit is not the best for Gaming currently as most drivers and software are not designed for it. As for the performance issue have you tried the newer 158.24? i running a 7900 GT with maxed out setting and getting 60 FPS constantly (v sync on so capped at 60) With no issues.... Might need to be you need to update that and sound drivers as i have seen those degrade performance.

still getting crappy performance. I have the visuals in vista turned off and my graphics on medium @ 1024x768 settings are all medium and the dynamics are all low. I get from 20-60fps it will be fine but it jumps around like shit. Ill be running around and then when i go around a corner ill drop to like 30fps and get shot it sucks. I have audio on software and low quallity and it still runs not the best. I should be fine i have a good graphics card and sound card. I oced my cpu to 2.4ghz

i know man i really need help getting this hdd out. the windows vista repair thing when i open the cd doesnt fix the boot manager cause it doesnt see it cause i dont have that drive in.

alright i got the hdd issues all fixed but i still am getting the same lag except i dont have a hdd reboot causing some of the pauses in game. I still lag tho it sucks. Im running on medium and 1024x768 and jumpy

ahhh vista just runs to slow and bf2 is my favorite game so im gonna leave vista and go back to xp

What do your vista scores show? Mine is 5.8 and it runs well as i tested it last night with the 158.24 drivers.

XP is better for gaming that is for sure. The question is why you got 4.5 Honestly the one that is lowest usually shows the issue.
