Sd-616f & Sh-w162c

I have recently installed Vista Ultimate 64bit. I have two DVD drives and neither are recognised under Vista. I installed the software from them but when I go to explorer they are not there. They worked perfectly under XP.

Today they actually came up on the device manager but with exclamations. I tried to update the drivers but it came back and told me there was no new software available. I have now come to a halt with them.

I have searched the net and updated the firmware but cannot fnd drivers to get them to work with Vista. Is anyone able to help or advise. Please

Thanks

Mark

Hmm...it could be an IDE driver issue. How are they configured, and what MB do you have?

Hi,

They are on IDE2 as cable select. Nothing changed since leaving xp. Its a gigabyte board K8 Triton Socket 754 8237R+.
I tought IDE but dismissed it pretty quick because there was no change from XP. I will have another look though.

In the device manager the error code is 39 for both. If hat helps

Thanks

I'll do some more research on it this weekend. Have you tried removing, and adding the drives?

Maybe change one drive to Master and the other to Slave?

That would be what I would try as well. Vista seems to be much more fussy with hardware, so perhaps it needs to be set like that to properly recognise the drives.
