No internet connectivity
I finally got rid of my d-link di-624 router with the infamous rebooting problems, and picked up a Linksys WRT54GL. I was going to leave the stock firmware (no updates from Linksys available), but after seeing it didn't support IPs assigned by MAC addresses, I stuck on a copy of DD-WRT v23 SP2.
Set up my routing, port forwarding, wireless, etc. and everything works great on all of my computers except for my gaming rig running Vista. If I reset the network adaptor, the internet works fine (although more slowly than on the XP computers) for 1-10 minutes, then conks out. Even when there's no internet connectivity, the LAN works fine, I can ping WAN IPs through the router config, and even VNC into my other computers and browse the web through them. My d-link router works fine with my Vista computer, and my Vista computer works fine with the Linksys when I boot up in Knoppix. Any ideas? edit: I meant VNC, not VPN.

have you tried setting a static ip for the vista machine? I ran into the same issue, however it was with a recently built vista machine and a linksys router, wasn't the same model as yours though, the customer had phones linksys and they had told her that thier router didn't support vista (i was confused by this, they must have been on crack or something)... i fiddled around with it but never got it work even after all the firmware updates.
Oventually she just told me to hooked up a different router.... a AirLink MIMO XR (AR525W) wireless router, worked like a charm.. no complaint since (back in febuary) Figured linksys would have figured this out.

The Vista machine doesn't have any trouble picking up the IP it's assigned based on its MAC address... I could try assigning it one in the network and seeing if it does anything useful, although it wouldn't be a good permanent solution.
Router is listed on the Linksys site as supporting Vista, FWIW.

exactly the same senario, doing a repair wouldn't really do anything, the ip was there working, but "not" working...

Try restarting the DNS client:
at the command prompt: NET STOP "DNS Client" Then... NET START "DNS Client" |

Judas: Repair fixes it, just not for very long, net access cuts out again, with no pattern that I can tell.
Maddogg6: No go, the DNS client still works fine as far as I can tell, even when there's no internet connectivity. edit: Connection seems to drop out a lot faster if I'm doing stuff. If I leave it pinging an IP, but don't use it for anything else it seems relatively stable, if I open bittorrent, it's done in 30 seconds.

I don't use any of the above, and like I said, I seem to have fixed it.
